Tell us about what you're doing with your life.
Almost empty nesters, I can’t wait to see what the next stage in life has in store for Susan and me. Our youngest (out of three) is on her way to Cornell this fall (Class of 2027), and I am excited for more excuses to get back to Ithaca. Most of our time is traveling to see my oldest son in Boston, my middle son in Ann Arbor, and family in New Orleans. Hitting the slopes with friends and family in Utah is an annual affair. Going to the beach. I have focused recently on playing bad golf on some of the most beautiful courses in the world, celebrating friends and family “big” birthdays, and trying to cast the perfect fly at Fat Possum Bottom.
What is your favorite memory of your time at Cornell?
I don’t have a favorite. There are many. Riding down Libe Slope on Freshman Day 1 in a Egan’s IGA grocery cart after a night of playing whales tales certainly comes to mind. Along with countless days hanging out in the gorge (when that was allowed) and arts quad on beautiful days. Living at the Sigma Chi house and making lifelong friends. Cornell -in – Washington was amazing. Most of all would have to be the memory of anticipation to get back to campus each fall to hear what classmates did, where they were going, and start another memorable semester.
Which Cornell classmates do you keep in touch with?
Over the years I’ve enjoyed catching up with classmates at reunions and reaching out on my travels. Could not have survived COVID without a weekly virtual putting tournament with David Horne and Clay Lifflander. I think we played weekly for almost 18 months. I also see Micha Greenstein (who is a grandfather) as he lives in Memphis.
What random or surprising encounters with Cornell or Cornellians have you experienced since you left?
It is not the encounters that have surprised me, but the degrees of separation (average 2 or 3) among people I encounter and Cornell classmates. We are everywhere and know everyone!
What does being a Cornell alumnus mean to you?
Enthusiasm about Cornell that I can share with others. I like to sum up my experience at Cornell as something I would want to do again.
What are you most looking forward to at Reunion 2024?
Getting back to campus and catching up where we left off last reunion.
